LOCATION: Mooloolaba Spit, Sunshine Coast

SPACE: Two bedroom plus bunk room plus two bathrooms and open plan living
SCOPE: Design completely new bathrooms and bedrooms inc furniture,artwork and wardrobes, replace flooring. Suitable for holiday rental.

BUDGET: $60,000

BRIEF: Replace both bathrooms with new updated features from 1980's renovation. Create a modern but not cliched coastal interior in both bathrooms and bedrooms. Must be low maintenance and hard waring for busy holiday rental.

Our client inherited this apartment from her parents. It was last renovated in the 1980's and it was time for an update. In keeping with her mum's love of colour we decided to inject some of her favourites into the new look with coloured tiles and bed furnishings. We decided to use some timber in the bathroom vanities as neither has a window and needed some warmth. We used a blue tile to become a feature wall in each bathroom and large format wall/floor tiles to not only create the visual look of extra space but to cut down on grout lines for maintenance reasons.

A complete refresh of the bedrooms included new loop carpets, window treatments, bedding with custom runners and cushions in a commercial grade fabric for laundering. Beautiful bespoke slip cover bedheads and reading lights with leather strap. Subtle beach themed framed artworks in oak to compliment the timber bedsides and bathroom vanities.

Wardrobes are finished in Polytec Legato a soft matt finish with timber custom door handles. In the second bedroom a small nook was made with mirror and light for doing makeup. New power points with USB ports were included for travellers.

We are currently working on the front half of the apartment which includes replacing the timber flooring and kitchen. We have updated the old sofa and armchair and are beginning to add new artwork. The rest of this open plan room will be completed by the end of 2021.
